Sarah grew up with divorced and absent parents. She doesnβt have a good example of what love should look like. Finding love as an adult is a struggle. Then a random accident leads her to a better life.

The Many Loves of Sarah Brennen is a coming of age story which mimics real life. There are so many distorted images of how life and love should be out there. Some see it in their own families. Most see it in the media and social media. Hallmark movies portray love in a most unrealistic but dreamy way. Sarah faces life with her perceptions of love which just doesnβt work out. I like that she faces that and learns about real life.
This story takes place in the 80s, which is when I was a teenager. I always enjoy reading books from that time period as it takes me back to my own story.Β
There are also strains in family relationships, especially between Sarah and her sister. Realistic, you bet. This seems to be pretty common in real life. Life is messy, and we wiggle through it the best we can. Family can be challenging. There is love, but that isnβt always enough. Personalities crash, divorce, and new relationships strain old relationships. Children are often the ones who suffer through no fault of their own. Many times they donβt realize this at the time.Β
The Many Loves of Sarah Brennan is a realistic look at life. I enjoyed it tremendously and suggest reading it. You may see parts of your past, or you might be one of the lucky ones who wasnβt raised this way. It is a good read either way!
