Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop is a continuation of The Christmas Bookshop.
Carmen continues to work at McCredie’s Bookshop in Edinburgh. She is determined to keep the bookshop functional, making enough money to keep it from being sold.
Carmen’s love life is non-existent. She continues to live with her sister until a new nanny comes into play. She must find somewhere else to stay, taking charge of her life.
One of my favorite things is the description of Edinburgh and the interior of the bookshop and attached home. It sounds like a magical place. The interior seems like a labyrinth leading to all kinds of treasures. I would love to visit!
I wasn’t as enthralled by this as I was with The Christmas Bookshop, but I enjoyed it. Mr. McCredie is so eccentric and rather obtuse. He is a real book lover though. As the MC, Carmen can be frustrating at times, but also cares for others and wants the best for everyone.
Midnight at the Christmas Bookshop revolves around a romance, although it isn’t the story’s focus. I almost think I would’ve enjoyed it more if it was focused on the bookshop without the love interest. Each to their own! Overall, I enjoyed the story, especially the setting with its chipper Christmas atmosphere.
