Malala shows the importance of education for women and women’s rights. Children who are lucky enough to go to school do not realize that there are children elsewhere who have had that right taken away. They want an education and aren’t allowed to get one. Having a heartfelt talk about this topic while reading this would be an excellent way to get this point across. Sometimes educated children don’t realize how lucky they are.
Malala Yousafzai is an amazingly strong young woman, raised by a father who supported her and her rights in a country that took them away. Even after being shot in the head by the Taliban, she continues being an activist while getting an education. Her strength in the face of adversity is mind-boggling and an excellent example of female activism.
As with all of the Inspired Inner Genius books, this one includes a glossary, a muse museum, an extra few paragraphs about Malala with a photo, and a free educational guide. It provides a fantastic learning opportunity for young children.
