Sʜᴏᴿᴛ Sʏɴᴏᴘsɪs for I Can Do It

I Can Do It includes ten stories about everyday issues children deal with. The child makes the right choice, and then it discusses the moral of the story.

My Thoughts

It would be good to read and discuss these scenarios with young children. The stories could open up good discussions.

In every story, the child learns to say I can do it. That is wonderful, but I don’t feel that always works out.

Saying you can do anything you put your mind to is not valid in many situations, so I don’t particularly appreciate hearing it. Some people try so hard and can’t do it. Then they feel worse about their ability.

This is a slippery slope in my mind. Life doesn’t always work out the way you want it to. This is part of life and should be expected. Telling children they can do anything could be harmful if they try their hardest and fail.

I like the stories and the morals in these stories. I would like to see them with a child trying hard without success. Kids need to be taught how to handle that too.
