The Revelations begins with an odd conversation where we learn Alex Marcum had found a stand-in for himself many years before. He had written articles pertaining to a serial killer and this person began stalking him with letters. I found myself wishing I had read the previous books in the Forgotten Series before reading The Revelations, as this is the third one. I was a bit confused at first, but quickly got with the program.
As part of this conversation we learn that Emma’s aunt’s body had been found, proving she hadn’t run off with a man many years earlier. Emma, while researching for the book she’s writing and looking into information leading to her aunt’s killer, accidentally stumbles across a shallow grave. I felt Emma was the perfect one to stumble upon this grave that pertains to the case the police department is investigating. She is a tenacious lady who wants to know the truth.
I like where this story leads my mind. I find myself trying to solve the case and thinking it could be a couple different people at this point in the series. Marc Timms gives the reader more than one angle to investigate. The fact that these people are involved in Emma’s life makes it more scintillating.
At the end, Emma gets herself into trouble. She ends up hurt and uncertain of who the culprit is. The story ends with a cliffhanger and I want more! What happens next? Who killed her aunt? Who is after Emma? Geez, there is so much to wonder about. I am looking forward to the next installment of the Forgotten Series!
