✝️Short Synopsis
✝️In Descent of a Broken Man, James Corbin is a stressed-out, anxious, rather mousy high school teacher studying religion on the side. His boss dislikes him, his wife leaves him, and his research has stalled.
✝️When James is drawn to a strange book in a voodoo friend’s home, his life changes in an eerie way. Religion drives so much in this story. Two murderers are running rampant in New Orleans, and a detective is on the hunt.
✝️My Thoughts
✝️Descent of a Broken Man is a unique story. It combines the supernatural, religion, and police work in a bizarre tale of discovery and death. A monster becomes a reality, and the townspeople are forced to accept the unthinkable.
✝️James was a bit of a sad sack at the story’s beginning. He was depressed, disrespected, and uncomfortable in social situations. It was easy to feel sorry for him. Then he changed, and although I still felt slightly sorry for him, he became an uncaring man who lost himself.
✝️The woman detective was a bit hard to like. She was young, tough, and lived for her job. I was impressed with her skills but couldn’t connect in other ways. Her attitude fit the job and the story well, though.
✝️Descent of a Broken Man is all kinds of weird. I have always enjoyed the oddities authors think up for horror and thriller books.
✝️Thank you to R&R Book Tours and the author for providing this book for me to read and review. 💕
