Bright Young Women is based on the Bundy murders. It focuses on the sorority president, Pamela, Ruth, a victim, and Tina, Ruth’s partner.
This story was told from Pamela and Ruth’s point of view. Although I was somewhat familiar with the Bundy cases, it wasn’t enough to know what information was straight from the Bundy files and what was added by the author. Now I want to check into it.
At first, some of the characters’ behaviors seemed odd, but then it kicked in that they were surviving the best they could. Nobody knows how they will respond until something happens to them.
I found the story fascinating, especially Pamela’s thoughts on Bundy, as he was sort of “worshipped” by many. What she said made a lot of sense.
I like that the focus was on what happened and how it affected those exposed to the murders in some way. The story kept my attention from beginning to end. It was well worth the read.
