The Maid is about Molly, the maid who is happy working at a fancy hotel. She struggles with social interactions, especially since her Gran passed away. Molly doesn’t pick up what is obvious to most. This leads to her being taken advantage of by some “bad eggs” at work. She learns from her negative experiences and moves on with her life.
I love Molly, the maid! She is the most delightful character. Her innocence makes you want to befriend her and protect her from others. Her structured life and extreme rule following are part of what makes Molly so darn captivating.
The plot was well thought out. As the story builds, the clues add up, helping the reader figure out what’s going on. There are a couple of surprises at the end that I don’t think many would figure out before they happen, though. Everything fits together so well.
Nita Prose did a bang-up job on this, her first novel! I will definitely read any others from her.
