Frida Kahlo is the newest Inspired Inner Genius installment.
Frida was a painter from Mexico who suffered many ailments throughout her life while painting to express herself. Self-portraits make up much of her work.
She married an artist who was twenty years older and more well-known. Her marriage wasn’t ideal, ending in divorce and remarriage.
Frida died at an early age after suffering through many health obstacles.
Frida Kahol is someone I had never heard of until reading this book. She was an interesting and talented woman who had a rough life healthwise and in her marriage.
The illustrations are beautiful, filled with perfectly matching colors and incredible detail. I need to check out her paintings!
I enjoyed learning about her life, although some of the information disclosed was a bit much for this age group. I don’t feel her miscarriages or pregnancy problems were necessary to mention. It would be enough to say they wanted children but did not have any.
Thank you to Inspired Inner Genius for providing this book for me to read and review.
